What is the RED Edition?
The RED Edition is an assurance of
quality. When you see The RED Edition
on the cover, you can trust that it has been carefully edited to provide
the highest quality content.
I purchased the E-Book, 600 Recipes for
Chili Lovers with high expectations but when I opened it, what a
disappointment! Someone had just extracted over 600 recipes from a master
file without regard for accuracy, readability or completeness, thrown them
in a PDF file and called it a cookbook. No one had even really looked at
the output, let alone attempted to edit or use it. I almost discarded it as
worthless but while browsing through it, I saw that the only problems were
due to the way it was created. The recipes, though poorly compiled and
formatted, were excellent! These recipes were created and written by people
who loved a good bowl of chili! It
was worth saving.
I set to the task and began the slow
process of carefully reading each recipe, formatting and correcting (great
chili cooks are not always great spellers) as I went. I stepped through
each page as if I was preparing the meal by the recipe. There were about 30
that were not complete and were discarded and replaced. There were several
exact duplicates with different names. I researched unclear items such as a
"casbel pepper" and replaced it with Cascabel. Where quantities
were unclear, either conversions (#2 can to ounces, milliliters to
teaspoons, etc.) or comparison to nearly identical recipes were made to
eliminate guesswork on the part of the user. The recipe writers knew what
they meant but you may not. Where grammatical revisions were necessary,
every effort was made to keep the personality of the writer in the
directions and still make it easy to understand. Several hundred hours (yes, it takes that long to go through
over 600 recipes) and over 9,000 edits later, I'm willing to place my stamp
on it as a quality cookbook, hence The RED
Edition. I completed the name change to The RED Edition Chili Lover’s Cookbook to
further differentiate this version from the other. Not only is it for chili lovers, it was written by them
and edited by one.
I
didn't create any recipe except the very first one in the book but I have
made every effort to verify the accuracy, readability and completeness of
each one.
They’re all here, as simple or complex as
you could possibly want and I must say, collectively, they are a treasure.
